About us

Designer:

Sirry Örvars is a textile and knitting designer, Belgium based, born and raised in Iceland and with footprints across Europe.

Inspiration/design:

The garments in her newest collection – hún (that means “she” in Icelandic)...shawls, scarfs and kimonos in natural linen fibers, double layers and dual colors...are inspired by living in different countries across Europe, with all the contrasts in culture, as well as temperature and environment, that can be imagined between the north and the south - the variable colors of our earth.

The garments must be warm in wintertime and cool during summer and let the skin breath, which are the main characteristics of linen. They should give energy, softness and warmth with their colors and threads - show ones admiration of natural elegance.

Description of the creation:

hún – collection is woven of 100% linen, both from the natural grey (linen) color and also dyed yarn. The garments are after weaving,  washed/tumbled in warm water to get the rustic look, but it also gives a denser texture. At last it is given a mechanical treatment, to make the garments softer and less stiff.

The result are high quality natural products, with visible strong fibres and that crumple special look that Sirry seeks to achieve in her design.

Production:

The garments are fully produced in Lithuania, from yarn spinning to dyeing, weaving, washing and end work on final garments, ensuring consistency in the making of the designers products.
